Notification

G.S.R. 865(E)- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 83 of the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1976(60of 1976) the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Standards of Weights & Measures (Packaged Commodities) Rules,1977, namely:-

1. (1) These rules may be called the Standards of Weights & Measures(Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules, 2008.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Standards of Weights & Measures (Packaged Commodities) Rules,1977 (herein after referred to as the said rules,) in rule 4 and entries there under the following shall be inserted namely:-

'Explanation: The existence of packages without the MRP would not be construed as a violation of this rule. It should, however, be ensured all packages have MRP on them as required in this rule, before the packages are dispatched from the factory.
