NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 2nd June, 2009

    G.S.R. 380(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section(1) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986(68 of 1986), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules to further amend the Consumer Protection Rules, 1987, namely:-

    (1)Short title and commencement.-(1) These rules may be called the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Rules, 2009.

     (2)They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

 

     2. In sub-rule (1A) of rule 11 of the Consumer Protection Rules, 1987,-

 

      (i) in Clause (c), for the words “eight thousand rupees per month”, the  

            words  “twenty five thousand rupees per month with effect from

           1st September, 2008”sgall be substituted;

     (ii) after clause (d), the following explanation hall be inserted, namely:-

 “Explanation:- For the purpose of this clause, if the members are   not provided with chauffeur driven government vehicle or if the     members do not opt for hired vehicle in lieu of conveyance allowance, the members shall be paid conveyance allowance per month at the rate of ten thousand rupees and the cost of one hundred fifty litres of petrol.”
